The Saguache Fire Department is governed by the Northern Saguache County Fire Protection District Board, a board of volunteers charged with managing the funds and operations of five volunteer fire departments in Northern Saguache County. The Department is expected to perform mutual aid for these departments, as well as other departments in Southern Saguache County and Rio Grande County.

Below are some organizations that we participate in:

San Luis Valley Firefighter Association The SLVFFA is an organized group of rural fire departments in the San Luis Valley. The group meets regularly at the different departments. Field competitions are held annually, with some departments competing at the State level. Training and support is provided by the association to the local departments.
		The Colorado State Firefighters Association This association provides Colorado Fire Departments with training opportunities and legislation information. The Saguache VFD has been active in the association for three years. Please visit their site!
