Mary Van Pelt arrived on planet earth in December of 1955 during the same week that Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama.  In August of 1982 she found herself in a locked psychiatric ward, graduating three months later with a degree in Bipolar.  She also holds a BA in Spanish from Adams State College.  She is a strong advocate for social justice issues faced by people diagnosed with mental illness, especially in the arena of sustainable and meaningful employment.  She lives in a log cabin home in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado.  Her e-mail address is papermouse@amigo.net
